This course focuses on the care of adult and older adult clients with health alterations that require medical and/or surgical intervention. Emphasis is placed on the care of clients with alterations in selected body function. Concepts of client centered care, cultural sensitivity; informatics, safe practice, and professionalism are integrated throughout the course. Concepts in the course will be emphasized to ensure role delineation for the licensed practical nurse as well as the registered nurse. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe client care to adults in a variety of settings within the scope of practice of the licensed practical nurse and the registered nurse.
