Financial Aid Financial Aid Programs MGCCC administers federal, state, institutional and outside financial aid in the form of grants, scholarships, work programs, and loans. Some aid programs require that you demonstrate financial need. The basic types of financial aid are: Grants and Scholarships do not have to be repaid unless you withdraw from school and owe a refund. Work Study allows you to earn money for your education. Loans allow you to borrow money for your education and must be repaid with interest. Federal Student Aid Programs include Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Stafford Loans, PLUS Loans, and Work-Study. State Grants Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG): This grant is offered by the state of Mississippi through the Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid for students who are residents of Mississippi with a 2.5 high school GPA and ACT score of 15 or above. Students may apply after October 1 each year online at Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid (www.msfinancialaid.org).The application deadline is September 15 each year.Students must maintain 15 credit hours each semester to be eligible. Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant (MESG): This grant is offered by the state of Mississippi through the Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid for students who are residents of Mississippi with a 3.5 high school GPA and ACT score of 29 or above, or semifinalist/finalist of the National Merit Scholarship or National Achievement Scholarship competition.
